Do you mean that the file won't run?
    .......basically yes
I can open the win-zip file, but when I try to run it, a message comes up to tell me I dont have win-zip

Then I get a System Error code showing
    ColorU Service.:exe MSVCP100.dll missing
Try re-installing the program to fix...(which program ?)

not really sure what all that is about
sorry to be a pain....i`m not very good at this, am I.

You probably need to actually extract the files to a directory. A mounted Zip archive (which is what you get when you double click on a Zip archive) may not behave exactly like a folder. To extract, right click on the (unopened) file. Click on the "extract" entry.

I'm not sure why Windows would be looking for WinZip. Windows itself has been able to handle Zip archives since - well, I can't recall. Vista?

According to a Web search, MSVCP100.dll is an MS Visual C++ runtime file. Maybe the Brother software installs that. (Wouldn't be unusual.) If not, you may need to install it separately. Let us know.

That error message about MSVCP100, shows nearly every time I start the lap top up, would a System Restore do any good, would it affect stuff that I have already installed ie The Epson Printer...

    Maybe.

What I would try first is downloading an installer:

Download Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 from Official Microsoft Download Center

Pick the download for your Windows type (X86 is 32 bit).

I doubt that you can do any damage with this.

    That's good to hear.

I'm not expert at these things, but I'm glad to assist when I can.
