    Windows 10 issue

Product Name: HP Pavillion DV6 6140tx
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. Some of the issues am facing after the upgrade are:

    1) Touchpad issue: Sometimes the touchpad becomes unresponsive for 3 4 seconds(cursor doesnt move) but when i connect my external mouse it work without any flaw. I tried installing the latest synaptics driver for windows 10 from the synaptics official site but without any success.

    2) Not able to log in to microsoft account. When i go to settings->Accounts, The 1st tab, i.e "Your email and accounts" doesnt load.. its just a blank screen loading infinitely. All other tabs like sign in option, work access, Family and other users, sync your settings opens fine but when i click the "Add someone else to this pc" or "Sign in with microsoft account" in Family and other users tab nothing happens.

Please help me in resolving this issue. Its been eating my head since last 3 days. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi Ronit, and welcome to the forums.
I upgraded from 7 also and had a lot of problems too. On some systems HP does not play well with the upgrade, because some of their crap was tailored for 7. After I uninstalled this stuff my laptop runs like a top. The HPSETUP one I think was the culprit. Make sure you create a system restore first.
Try what I suggest, go into programs and uninstall HP support assistant and HP framework and then go into the c drive thru This PC and open the drive and go to HP and open that folder and open the HPQWare folder and open that and go to the HPSetup folder and open that and delete whats in that hpsetup folder.
Reboot the system and always make sure your drivers are up to date
Also you may want to run an sfc scan to make sure you have no corrupt files from the upgrade
All of this can be found on the forums here.
Also consider an in place upgrade after you uninstall the HP stuff if your still having problems
Don't let it stress you out, it will all work out. You will prevail!!

    Hi Edge,

I uninstalled the hp support assistant and framework software but i was unable to find the folder u asked for. There is no such HP folder in c drive. Please help me with it! And one more thing, I am unable to use the hp recovery manager. Do you know how can i use it? Or any way so that i can restore to factory settings even after one month if i decide to revert back?

Don't worry about the hp setup, you may not have it. How old is your laptop?
The hp recovery wont work going from 7 to 10. Did you make a recovery disc before the upgrade or when you got the computer?
If you need to go back to 7 you can do it within a month and it is located in settings>update and security>recovery. There should be an option to go back to previous build.
Don't panic. Do you have a backup of your files and personal stuff? That is the most important thing you can do.
Win 10 when working right is awesome.
Do you have experience with computers?

Its almost 4 years old.. HP DV6 6140tx model.. Yeah i had made the recovery disc and i have it with me..But can i factory reset the system with the discs without having access to HP recovery manager? Yes i have all the backups and everything! Thats not an issue! What i am worried is if after one month i plan to revert back to win7 due to some reason can i factory reset using the discs without having access to recover manager so that i can get back my original win7 which came with the system! Thanks in advance :)

Yes you can use the discs to go back after a month. Those are your insurance, so to speak.
when you upgraded, did it say your system was ok for the upgrade? I believe it should be ok, HP wont verify if it more than a few years old, but in most cases it should be

An in place upgrade should fix all corrupt files you brought over from the upgrade. This is easier than knocking yourself out trying to find problems. It reinstalls win 10. here's the tutorial

Just chose to keep all apps and settings at the prompt. This is relatively easy with an iso

When and if you want to go back, all you need to do is boot from those discs and you'll have the original OS reloaded. Very easy.
I need to get going, let me know how it goes

Yes HP didn't verify for my laptop.. But the upgrade client didn't show any issue with the upgrade.. Again Reinstalled driver for synaptics and its working fine now.. Everything is fine except the "Your email and accounts" tab in accounts section which is not showing anything due to which am unable to login with micriosoft account. Thanks a lot for these info Edge! :)
