IDT HD Audio Codec adds jack but loses Line In?
Somewhere between October 17, 2015 & today (January 14, 2016) my system lost the ability to input audio from a vinyl source to Audacity. The October date was when I last input from vinyl (John Mayall's Turning Point album). At that time the Windows Sound's Recording Devices listing showed the Line In for IDT High Definition Audio CODEC as plugged in. Today, even though phono output from my amp is plugged in to Line In, Windows Sound says "Not plugged in". I have confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the cables or other links in the chain.
Instead, there is now a new Recording Device called Stereo Mix as the default device. Its properties claim Jack information is "insideMobileLid Analog Jack". Interesting idea given that this is a desktop system and this jack has never appeared before. I tried reverting the driver from its most recent iteration to its previous (circa 2013) but the jack remained and Line In continued to be reported as not plugged in. I suspect a Windows update, but a system restore to mid-December 2015 did nothing but take a lot of time. I will revert to the present.
Any clues as to what's going on?
