Switch from PC manufacturer to Intel driver

Looks like the same driver...last 4 digits match. Made for the chip and OS. I believe Win 10 or the OEM will put their stamp on the same driver, but the last 4 is what matters. I have the 5th gen I7 5500 and it did the same thing.

Yes, it runs very well. No noticeable difference from the Acer sourced driver, but at least it's running Intel's latest now. The only downside is the Intel Driver Update Utility still says "a customized computer manufacturer driver is installed". Unless the reason for that is I need to update the chipset driver to the Intel version as well. I'm not certain how to go about doing that.

Yeah, unless you do a clean install and wipe you drive of all the OEM crap it will always say that. Just check periodically and use the go around to download the drivers from the vendors site, Its a good practice anyways. Wish you the best.

In my experience using Lenovo computers, even a driver downloaded from the Lenovo website can produce the error "Not validated". The driver can be installed manually, following a manual procedure similar to the described in the link above.

But this is generally a waste of time. If there are no obvious problems, it´s not necessary to install the "latest" Intel driver, not even the latest listed in the OEM website. Also, Windows Update can revert the driver to a previous version. In this machine, Intel Graphics 4600, I manually installed the 5063 version, and WU reverted it to the 4963. I just left it like that.

Except that they are all security updates, the latest is 5107.

Indeed it is a waste of time, mine is also Intel HD 4600 Windows Updates installed 5070, there were about 4 before that since upgrading to Windows 10. The previous one was 4963.
All have worked fine no problems, no effort.
Last time I looked the 5070 was not in MS or Intel catalogues.

Sure, the release notes for 5107 say vaguely about an issue resolved, looks not to be of any importance and of course may not actually apply to the OEM hardware, or maybe already done in the supposed customised one I got.

5070 has been available on the MUC for a few months now.
