Windows 10 Clean install usb 3.0 Problems

I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 and then performed a clean install of windows 10. I have being having problems with my USB 3.0 ports which were not present in windows 7.

Every time I turn on my computer running windows 10 I get an error telling me the last USB device I connected to the computer has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognize it. Strangely this error also pops up when there is nothing connected to the USB 3.0 ports. Upon viewing device manager there is a device listed as unknown device(link in compliance mode). The error in the details section states that the super speed link to the device keeps returning an error. USB 2.0 ports work fine.

I have tried various things to fix the issue such as uninstalling all the USB devices in device manager, updating drivers unplugging the PC.
One of the ideas I have as to what may be causing the issue is that Intel don't provide drivers for their USB 3.0 ports after windows 7. As far as I know Microsoft provides the driver. This is the only thing that comes to mind when trying to figure out the problem.

    Any help appreciated

The computers I've worked with, including my own, did not get USB 3.0 support from the BIOS like the USB 2.0 ports do, require drivers usually provided by the maker of the motherboard. Does ASUS have USB 3.0 drivers available for downloading? I have not done the Upgrade to Win10 of my Win7 computer with its USB 3.0 ports yet and since my Win10 Pro didn't have USB 3.0 built-in I got an add-in PCIe X1 card to provide them, works fine on Win10. Next time I order accessories I'll get another card for the Win10 Home computer.

Asus only links to lntel's drivers as Intel manufacture the USB 3.0 ports. Intel stopped providing the drivers after windows 7. Now the generic Microsoft drivers install instead.
