Since I added my complaint to this thread ... to be fair to MS, I now need to add my new comment -- that the keyboard lights work again!

Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but I just got this same keyboard on my Windows 10 PC and I also cannot get the backlights to work. It wasn't clear to me if there was a solution to this- is there a way to get the lights to work on it?

When I had posted this, 2 years ago, I was running the preview build of Windows 10 which was the problem. When build 9926 came out that solved my problem.

Assuming that you are running a non-Insider preview version of Windows 10 then your keyboard should be lighting up. Here are a few suggestions.

    1. Make sure you are pressing the SCR LK key. The backlight key is different for every keyboard, but if you are using the CMStorm then you're gonna want to press the SCR LK key.

    2. Download the latest drivers from here. (Click on Downloads and then scroll to the color of your keyboard.)

    3. If my top two suggestions don't work, try plugging the keyboard into another computer and see if it works. If it doesn't, then you may have a bad keyboard.

    Hope that helps. :)

Thanks Chuck, I have pressed scroll lock many times without effect. When I go to your drivers link all I see in downloads is a pdf describing the keyboards- am I missing something there?

I'm so sorry. I didn't actually check the downloads. I had assumed they were drivers. That's my bad, sorry about that.

Turns out, the keyboard actually doesn't have any drivers. Did you just get this keyboard? If so, you might want to just return it and get a replacement.
