    I understand now and I must concede I see no joy in using WUMT in Windows 10 Home. Nothing but disappointment and frustration will be the end results. I have pointed out these short comings on the forum where I first learned about WUMT.

    One user on another other forum reported having success on his Windows 10 Home laptop by doing the following:

    On Home, you can have full control with WUMT if you set your wireless connection to metered and:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DriverSearching]
    "SearchOrderConfig"=dword:00000000

    It would be a great addition for this software to also have a drop down menu to control this setting.

    Yes, i set mine to metered connection yesterday. Didn't know about the registry edit - but, \DriverSearching\?? I would have figured it would be related to Windows Updates not drivers?!

    Today, on my desktop running the Pro version, i ran WUMT after almost an hour+ after i started computer (did software updates). It showed the 2 updates i had for the Laptop Home version & installed fine, it didn't even offer the 2nd update again as it had on the laptop. Even more importantly, WU did not automatically search for updates - i would have had to manually click on 'Check for Updates'

    So...bottom line, thumbs up for anyone using WUMT on a Pro system and thumbs down on a Home system, or so it would seem

    WUMT Integrator

    I came across a posting on the forums here that included a screenshot of Windows Update Mini Tool (WUMT) and was curious about it. I did some searching on line and saw a number of posts about it, as well as links to places like MajorGeeks.

    One of the search links was to a thread on My Digital Life (MDL) that included a posting about a WUMT Intergrator. Since you had to be a member to see the post, I joined and read the post.

    I was intrigued by the fact that the Intergrator gave you an elevated link on the desktop but more so by the fact that it claimed to be able to catch the windows update notification popup, so I grabbed it and installed it on two of my systems (after backing them up first, of course).

    On one system, Windows Defender said that the contained a virus. Since I had the system backed up, I allowed it to run, with no ill effects so far. On the second system, there was no such notification. Neither system is exhibiting any unusual behavior and no untoward network activity.

    Here's the post from MDL:

    Windows Update MiniTool Integrator v1.0

    "I have been working for several days, together with member qwerty12, to integrate
    Windows Update MiniTool with Windows Update, and now it's awesome!
    qwerty12 has made a custom dll that catches the Windows Update notification popup, so when you click it,

    WUMT starts instead of the WU interface!

    Not only that, it's also elevated, so you don't have to click the boring UAC prompt to run it,
    and it starts to check for updates automatically!
    I made a custom installer for it, and it's dead simple to use.
    Just start the installer, and point to the folder where WUMT is located, and everything goes automatic.
    It also creates an elevated shortcut on your desktop, so you can run WUMT on demand.
    Uninstall script also gets copied over to the folder where WUMT is located.
    At the end of the install process, you will get a little notification popup with a temporary 'Test Me' button, try that!

    Works on both 32bit & 64bit Windows.

    Download WUMT_Integrate_Installer:
    WUMT_Integrate_Installer.zip WUMT_Integrate_Installer.zip WUMT_Integrate_Installer.zip - Google Drive

    Download WUMT:

    [ elided - see link below to author's site for WUMT downloads]

    Added bonus, is that the dll also converts those annoying modal notifications that you can't escape, into
    harmless toast notifications !

    BIG THANKS! to qwerty12 for his efforts.
    You can visit his GitHub page to read more about the dll if you want, here:
    MusNotificationUxDownloadDialogRemover https://github.com/qwerty12/MusNotificationUxDownloadDialogRemover

    *** EXPERIMENTAL ***
    For Unattended Install, put wumt.ini in same folder as
    WUMT_Integrate_Installer.exe and edit the 2 Options:
    Silent=Yes
    Wumt_Path="Program Files\WUMT"

    (Has to be on the system drive, path above already resolves to %systemdrive% )
    "

    From forum post at My Digital Life Forum:
    https://forums.mydigitallife.info/th...ntegrator-v1-0

    Latest version of WUMT at author's site is wumt_v30.09.2016 https://cloud.mail.ru/public/3E95/kvd9WCbUq

    NOTES:
    1 - The intergrator needs to be installed after WUMT. I just put them in the same directory before I ran it.
    2 - I am running it on Windows Home 1607, Build 14393.351.

    Hi everyone!

    I installed WUMT and run a search in Notification mode. The result is the availability of a new driver. I chose to download it only. It has been regularly downloaded but... where WUMT did save it in my PC?

    All windows updates whether from MS Windows Update or WUMT go to:
    C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download provided Windows is installed in C:\Windows.

    Note: I have a Cannon printer driver that shows up in WUMT also. I have chosen to hide it. If is working why mess with it? I am just saying.

    That's the one area I forbid MS to mess with, my Canon MX410 drivers! They always mess it up!

    Oh, BTW, this Windows Update MiniTool sets something that gives the "managed by your organization" message in Security and Updates. Anybody know what it is and how to reverse it?

    I also have the "managed by your organiztion" when I set WUMT to Notification. It has to do with a registry setting changed by WUMT (the same one in Group Policy settings for Windows Upadate) that Windows Updates now insists on reading. I have no idea how to counteract this situation. I can live with the "managed by your organiztion" message in exchange for control of Windows Updates.

    I just changed my WUMT back to Automatically and the "managed by your organization" is no longer displayed in MS Windows Update. Now I have changed back Notification and still no message. I have been here before. This is a fickle setting and MS Windows Updates really does not like it messed with. I will now reboot with WUMT in notification mode and see if message comes back. Oh lord what have I done. I knew better than to mess with something set the way I wanted it.

    Edit:
    The message did not come back and then I realized that I was in 15063.502 and the "managed by your organization" message rarely appears in this build.
    In the latest IP builds MS has change some things in Windows Updates and now it reads certain registry key(s) (such as notification) in order to provide additional information about the status of MS Windows Updates. The "managed by your organization" message is one of the more notable examples of this change in the later IP builds.

    @f14tomcat
    You might want to try changing WUMT to Automatically in a later IP build and see what happens. Do so at your own risk. As I have mentioned this setting is fickle and it is not WUMT. I have verified the change made by WUMT in the registry and it is immediate. It is all to do with MS Windows 10 Windows Updates. Sometimes the registry change takes effect immediately, sometimes you might have to sign out/sign in, and sometimes you might have to restart and at other times you just have to wait some unspecified time. I have not really found any consistency in making changes here. This is especially true from build to build. It has at times been a real Pandora's box for me. So open only if you dare.
