    What cable do I need?


    Hey guys,
    I've just ordered a 240GB SSD and it never came with a cable,
    what cable do I need and how would I install it, thanks

    You need a sata 3 6gb/s cable. SSDs typically don't come with cables.

    Depends what you are plugging into.
    1. Desktop internally (SATA cable 7pin for data connection to motherboard and power cable 15pin for connection to power supply). You may have spare plugs already inside for these.
    2. Laptop internally (usually no cable)
    3. USB externally - ( SATA-USB adapter)

    No because they don't say whether its sata 2 or 3 and don't give the speed the cable supports.

    Try this one: High Grade - Serial ATA Sata Hard Drive Data Cable with: Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories, its only a bit more expensive.

    BTW, there's no such thing as SATA3 cable, they are all same except for various qualities and manufacturers. Don't fall for advertisements that would sell you "Special SATA3" cable for higher price.
