Keyboard control to turn screen back on after timeout?

Tuning an HP All-In-One pc with wired keyboard. In Power Settings I can't see any choice of a key to resurrect the display after a timeout. I'd like to set it to spacebar. Or maybe Enter.

Anyone know what the default key should be?

BTW, the HP guide is useless. It's supposed to be loaded on the HDD but isn't. So I grabbed the PDF from their website and it says zip on the subject :-(

You should be able to press any key to turn the screen back on. If you are referring to sleep mode, if pressing a key isn't waking the computer up, open up Device Manager, expand keyboards, right click your keyboard and click Properties, then go to the Power Management tab and check the "Allow this device to wake the computer" box.

    Thanks, You.

No, I wasn't referring to 'sleep'. Pressing 'a' key does wake it up from that mode, and the Device Manager settings reflect this.

It's an omission on M$'s part then, to not have spelt out in the Power settings that any key will restore the display.

"Wake on Keyboard" is a BIOS setting under Power Management on my Toshiba Laptop with Windows 10.

Same with the mouse. Set it in device manager to allow wake up. Then a wiggle of the mouse and all is alive!

If you refer to the switched off screen after a preset interval, then you should switch it on again by pressing any key or moving the mouse. There is no need to assign a specific key for that. Just press the key you want or any other.

Thank you, spapakons, for a reply that has complete relevance to my original post.

This doesn't happen often enough on Windows help forums. Well done

So did you solve your problem of not being able to wake up the screen with a key?
