On a 64 bit computer you can install either 32 bit or 64 bit operating system. 64 bit is only really a benefit if you have more than 4GB RAM (32 bit can only use 4GB). As you don't I wouldn't worry about it.
If you wanted to change it (if you upgraded your RAM for example) you would have to do a clean install as you can't upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit.
An OS does not become 64 bit because it was installed on a 64 bit capable computer. It is not unusual to install a 32 bit OS on such a computer and there are some advantages in doing so. A 64 bit OS is generally preferred but with 4 GB or less RAM the benefits are not great. Going to a 64 bit OS would require a clean install of the OS and all applications. That would be a lot of work with plenty of opportunities to do things wrong.
