No external HDDs recognised since restoring acronis true image backup

Had some issues with my PC with user profile, so restored a 3 day old acronis true image backup.

now none of my external HDDs are recognised, by Windows or Aome hdd manager either.

    USB pens are ok.

hope there is a simple solution, desperately need to get this working

    thanks

Reinstall the chipset drivers from motherboard's manufacturer site (or directly from Intel/AMD if you know which chipset you have). Restart your computer and your drives should be detected again. In my old test motherboard the Intel-specific USB drivers fail to detect any device I connect. I had to manually replace them with the standard USB drivers in Device Manager. Click search and type device, then click to Open Device Manager. Expand the USB devices and then right-click on each Intel-specific controller and select Update driver. Select the last option a couple of times until you see a list with devices. Select the standard device from the list and proceed to install it. Repeat it for the remaining Intel-specific devices. Then delete the USB root hub devices (your mouse and keyboard will stop working if they are USB, I had PS/2) and restart your computer. The USB root hub devices will be installed again but now your hard disks will be detected normally.

PS: If you have USB keyboard/mouse delete the devices. When stop working, unplug and re-plug your mouse to enable it again.

thanks, I downloaded the chipset drivers from gigabyte website, installed and now the hard drives recognised again.....was a scary moment.
I thought I had done something wrong during the acronis restore, as it asked about MBR so,Imchose yes.....

    thank you

As a technician I have been through many such scary moments, so I know what to do.
