No I only have Sata II. I set it in the Bios but it would not boot. Macrium Reported that Trim was installed. MSI has no more updates for my MOBO.

Yes, i posted the motherboard site in past posts, had SATA AHCI drivers although for Windows 7 32bit and 64bit, still may work as i see not installed in Device manager in pic. Be possible why they list them, your unable to use AHCI Mode even though SATA II.

I have an MSI X58-Pro-E Model MS-7522 and the site I used to go to is either changed as I get a 404.

I used google to Find their update program and this is what it reported

Other chipset drivers and SATA i would update all that is needed if not already there from Windows 10, as they do carry some of your drivers.

Says that, but no AHCI drivers, would not trust Live Update as much, but i can not see all you do on system.

Drivers for SATA AHCI have to be installed where IDE/SATA controllers are through the Device Manager.

Listed on site as On-Board SATA AHCI/RAID Drivers Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver
In past these drivers are preinstalled before the OS,some will say it can be done post install of the OS.
Also same said sometimes about changing mode IDE - AHCI after OS install can only be done before OS install.
Believe this case was for older OS's

Only way to do it now it this, then switching to AHCI. Extract all files and you can put these on a flash drive and then Right click that controller, select update driver software, select Browse for driver software on your Computer, browse to location on the flash drive an select the one file listed.

Thanks for your help but I think that I will leave well enough alone. The drive is way faster than I had and it is ok. Thanks again.

It does make for an appreciable difference though.
However, once the OS has been installed with the bios set to IDE mode (or legacy, depending on bios), it's pretty tricky to make it accept the change. I ended up reinstalling the OS, all the tricks I found on the web just made the aging machine refuse to boot.

Anyhow, I guess we'll all be talking PCIe drives within a couple of years. I'm saving up for an Intel 750 as I write.

That said, Gary obtains a pretty high WINSAT score all things considering.
@aztec506 ; Thx for sharing. Looks as if we have similar stories, Velociraptor is retired here too. Great little thing as it was back then though.
