    Hobbitt's solution worked

    Hobbitt said:
I have a ScanSnap S510 which I could not get to work with Windows 10 and after searching the internet and e-mailing Fujitsu (who said that the Scanner stopped being produced 2 years ago and no driver updates were forthcoming) I grudgingly decided to buy its replacement - the iX 500. However when looking at this scanner on Amazon and going through the reviews I came across this suggestion. Use the software for the iX500. I therefore went to the Fujitsu website and downloaded the ScanSnap Manager for the iX500 - I didn't bother with the Organiser software as you need to submit Scanner details (anyway I found that the Organiser for the S510 works fine). The S510 was disconnected and the downloaded software loaded. On reconnection the S510 was recognised and the Manager dialog box could be opened. The ScanSnap symbol appeared in the taskbar. I have scanned a few documents and everything appears to be as before. So, don't throw your S510 scanner away, just run it with the iX500 software. I haven't told Fujitsu!!
Thanks Hobbitt, your soution worked. i have been struggling with this on my new windows 10 computer off and on for two months and my S510 is finally working again. Amazing that Fujitsu would not tell you that the software for their iX510 would work with the S510.

Thank you, thank you, thank you...Hobbitt! I tried this and it worked like a charm. And just when I was figuring my scanner was another piece of equipment or software I would have to replace to use Windows 10! You saved me $$$. Thanks again! Happy New Year!

    My thanks too

You saved me a bunch of $$$. I was looking into buying a new scanner before reading your post and installing the driver for the iX500. Thanks a million. Or at least $400.

Great workaround Hobbitt. Just did it on my wife's new laptop and it worked good. Only problem is trying to get the setting let me change where it scans to. Window comes up small and can't change the destination settings.

Hobbitt's suggestion of installing iX500 Scansnap Manager worked for me. Organizer was still on my computer so I only installed Manager for the iX500. My S510 is now working again. Thanks, Hobbitt!

A HUGE thank you to Hobbitt! I have relied on this scanner for years and couldn't stand the thought of buying a new one just to get current software.

THANK YOU so very much... Just moved to Windows 10 and found that the Scansnap would not work... Naturally, I desperately need to scan some documents today and found your solution. You saved me big time... A big plus in your karma column...

Hi, now its November and i installed the Fujitsu Standard Windows Software "ScanSnap Manager (V4.5L10) Setup Program" on Win10prof. Now in Version 1709 and Build 16299.19. (before, i had already installed Adobe Acrobat) - without connecting the ScanSnap S510 to my Computer. After plug-in USB, Windows 10 installed the device automatically. Now, on the fast SSD, my old ScanSnap works absolut perfect. It scans so fast, i have never seen before. Its like a new Life for my good old S510....I hope this will be working also in the future...Thanks to all here for the good tips.
