BIOS Changes - Not Seeing these Options

I think, I've solved the problem in my case. In device manager I've deleted all "USB controller" devices in order to ensure, that windows loads default Microsoft drivers after restart. Than I've restarted the PC and in BIOS changed "Intel xHCI Mode" to "Disabled". Haven't checked yet whether I have USB 3 support now, but, voilà, the scanner works.
I'm having the same issues with my Dell XPS 8900 and Canoscan LIDE210. Its maddening. The scanner continues to work on a Windows 7 machine I upgraded to Windows 10, but DOES NOT work on my new Dell XPS8900 that came with Windows 10 installed. I have looked for these settings in my BIOS and they are not there. Not sure what to do to find them?

    problem solved

Just I have had the same problem with a clean installed Windows 10 (x64) on an ASUS H97-PLUS Mainboard. I get the Error-Codes 5,202,54 or 2,155,177 when I tried to use my Canon Lide 110.

The answers in this post give me the right idea. After trying some BIOS-settings I get a very good solution: In the BIOS settings, selected Advanced, then USB settings I changed the ‘Legacy USB Support’ from [Enabled] to [Auto]. I don’t change the settings from 'xHCI mode' (it is still [Smart Auto] and EHCI-Handoff is [disabled]). After chancing the ‘Legacy USB Support’-setting the Lide 100 works seamlessly and USB 3.0 support is still available. Maybe this helps someone. :)

Thanks for the idea. I will need to test that further.

You downloaded the driver from Canon? I bought a new scanner and I don't think I can return it. Too bad they took so long to fix this.

Guys, if changing the driver mode corrects it, why not just place the scanner ON a USB 2.0 port instead of a 3.0?

That definitely did not work. I tried every USB port on my PC.

Was worth asking, from what I gathered it appeared to be a 3.0 port issue.

Yes, I believe it had something to do with the USB driver from Microsoft Win 10, but the driver was affecting both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. There was some issue between Canon and the USB driver, which apparently they solved. At some point I will try the canon again (I still have the scanner), although the Epson scanner worked fine out of the box. Too bad because I really liked the Canon scanner.

    Resolution to this problem

In April 2016 Canon released version 17.0.5.29 of their driver for the LiDE210 for all versions of Windows.

I was suffering from this 'mid scan hang' problem but I can confirm that installing version 17.0.5.29 of the driver resolved the problem for me.

I'm loving my scanner again. :) Not too sure about Canon though.
