Try holding down Shift as you allow the drive to load.

But I'm very confused. You have seen how terrible LightScribe disks look, and you are bothering to get it working?

I will try holding down the shift key, in hopes that it will lock out File Explorer until my program grabs control of the drive. (And reply back here again, if that works ... or not.)

I create labels that still look good in monochrome, and can add important text in support of the image. At my age, even my printing looks very sloppy, so what I can do with computer imaging is a vast improvement.

GracieAllen - were you ever able to correct this issue? I'm having the exact same issue - I was finally able to install LightScribe software on my Win 10 machine using the Troubleshooting Compatibility tool, but though the lightscribe drive seems to be printing a label on my DVDs, there's nothing there when finished.

I hate to ask the obvious, but, are you using 'LightScribe' discs?

Another obvious question but you are turning the discs over to ‘scribe’ the disc?

Yes, and to forestall other obvious questions:

    - yes, I have electricity on in the house,
    - no, the LightScribe discs have not been previously scribed before,
    - and no, there have been no disruptions in the space-time continuum..... that I know of.

Actually, your question and Edwin's were good foundational questions, and I don't create LightScribe discs frequently, so I could see myself forgetting to use the correct media or putting them in the drive the wrong way, but that isn't the case here.

Do you have the latest version of the Lightscribe system software & LightScribe Simple Labeler? I know HP hasn’t had this software in production for several years so it may be difficult to find anything newer.
It may be the case that Lightscribe is no longer compatible with Windows 10 or that you require third-party software to get the labelling to work.

Yes - have the latest version, but the Win 10 question is pretty much the purpose of both the original post by GracieAllen and my subsequent post. I'm trying to find out if the previously mentioned third party software works.
