    Erratic mouse behavior

logitech wireless m310 mouse, k520 wireless keyboard, m585 bluetooth mouse

I have several m310's as well as multiple unifying receivers. This is not battery related.

In the past, for years now, every once in a while, I've experience similar behavior. Basically, the mouse cursor movement gets jittery, to varying degrees. It had been occurring for a couple weeks, but yesterday it had gotten worse to a point where it was affecting my work flow.

Sometimes, if I change receiver ports, that takes care of it, but not yesterday. Also, when trying to pair the devices for testing (both mice and keyboard), most of the time, it took 3-5 tries before before success. Kept telling me it couldn't pair, then, eventually did the pairing, but I don't know why the "couldn't pair" message appeared if it wasn't receiving the pair request in the first place.
Finally, I tested with the last mouse, and the fifth receiver. No success, at first, that is.

After w while, all of all sudden, the bad behavior just went back to normal. BTW, throughout all this, the bluetooth mouse has behaved perfectly.

I don't want to stray to far from the subject, but I occasionally have another weird device related symptom, usually when I am booting up to a recovery environment outside of windows. The keyboard stops working. Somehow, I stumbled on the fact if I press the "Caps Lock" button 10 times, the keyboard is reactivated. That happened one time in Windows during my testing yesterday. Very strange

Seems to me the only common factor here is wifi??

    Hello,

Proximity: Move your mouse closer to the USB receiver. If the receiver is at the back of your computer, consider relocating it to a front port to avoid signal blockage.

Interference: Keep other electrical wireless devices away from the USB receiver to prevent interference.

Devices like Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth speaker, and cordless phones can disrupt the signal

Check Device Manager for driver issues. Look for Exclamations Marks or Questions Marks on any of the drivers there. Let us know what you find.

I had a similar problem with a Logitech M310 mouse, that was part of a Wireless Keyboard/mouse combo. It took a couple of weeks, and several e-mail exchanges, but it was finally replaced under warrantee. During the wait for the replacement, the erratic behaviour did NOT correct itself.
Aside from the above (considering interference from other devices,) you can try gently cleaning the "window" for the pickup on the underside of the mouse by gently using a cotton swab.

I tested on another computer, and experienced the basically same symptoms,. including having problem pairing devices using the Logitech unifying software, including my keyboard. When It finally did work for some, it took 4-5 tries.

Last night I gave up and resorted to using my wired mouse. Several hours later during the evening, I went back to trying the others. I removed the bluetooth from the Logitech unifyer, and instead paired it in my Windows bluetooth settings, and it started acting close to normal. The wired mouse was still bad..

This morning, I tried my wireless mouse, and then the bluetooth mouse, and all is back to normal, about 3 hours so far, after all the testing, using all your suggestions, with multiple wired mice (4), receivers, usb ports, etc., which did not bear positive results at the time of testing.

I do have a wifi modem and, voip module and cable box in the vicinity.

    Do you have any conclusions?

Have you tried borrowing a Unifying Receiver from another mouse to see if works any better.

I have a Logitech MK550 Combo (K350 Keyboard & M510 Mouse). It was very intermittent for a long time. Finally it stopped working. I solved the problem by buying a new Unifying Receiver.

BTW, when I first got the combo it was intermittent. On the net a lot of things were blamed including 2.4GHz WiFi and the USB 3.0 port the Unifying Receiver was plugged into. Moving most things to 5GHz WiFi and plugging the Unifying Receiver into a USB 2.0 port helped a some but never solved the problem. The Unifying Receiver proved to be the real problem.

I have a desktop and the case is under my desk so I installed the mouse / keyboard receiver on an extension USB cable and the receiver is now a few inches from the mouse / keyboard. No more mouse issues.

Yeh, seems randomly intermittent. Or, in my case, is it random? I'm gonna keep monitoring the situation to see if there's a pattern.

I have five unifying receivers, collected in the past because of the very problem were talking about. Sometimes switching them out works, other times, not so much. Things are working ok currently. We'll see.

    Now that's verrry interesting. Ingenious.

I just happen to have one of those cables. I'll let you know how it works out.

I tried that also and it worked for a few months. However, eventually even that did not help. The only thing that really solved the problem for good was a new Unifying Receiver.

I understand. That's my general go to when this occurs, which is what I did, but in this case, did not work.

Not right away, that is, but now things are back to normal, at least for the moment, which make me doubt the receiver theory. I'm thinking it may well be Wi-Fi signal interference cause by the intermittent use of some electronic device in my vicinity. That's the only explanation that makes sense for the randomness of the symptoms.

Did you try to use the USB extension cable?
