    No usb mouse drivers

Following my attempt to update usb mouse drivers things have got really screwed up and now when I boot up I've got no mouse showing up at all. I tried booting up with my old corded Mouse but that made no difference either. These are the things I have tried so far and really need help in getting my system up and running again.

    1. Somehow using keyboard only I got into device manager, saw that there was a warning symbol against the mouse driver so uninstalled the drivers and rebooted in the hope that Windows would pick up the default drivers on startup. This didn't happen! Further attempt at Device Manager blocked me saying it needed Administrator permission

    2. Booted up into safe mode with command prompt and ran SFC and also DISM to see if those would pick up the problem but again, they did not. Can I do any fix through CMD?

    3. I tried windows startup repair option but I apparently needed windows installation disk which I don't have as system came pre-loaded with Win 10.

    4. Lastly, I had recently made a system image using Aomei Backupper. I then booted up using the bootable USB stick I'd created, navigated to the system image that I had backed up onto an external hard drive, and having chosen the latest backup image I clicked "next" and the screen showed that backup would be up to my C drive and it also listed my D drive which is where all my data is. I got a bit frightened to click "proceed" but maybe this is the only option. I do have all my data on D drive and also on an external hard drive.

So, can anyone advise me simply how to get the default windows mouse drivers to install from a startup?? The pc boots up fine into my desktop screen but with no usage whatsoever of my mouse.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can get me out of this mess ( it's taken me half an hour to type this using my mobile phone!! ) and I've used up all my basic knowledge ☺️

Since your USB Flash Drive is working, there is no problem with your USB Ports.

You say you are using a USB mouse, but then you say you tried a Wired mouse? Is this USB I presume? Does this mean you are having issues with your Wireless Mouse? Have you tried replacing the batteries in it?
Have you moved the USB Controller to a different USB port on the computer, and not in a USB Hub?

If you can navigate with your keyboard, go to Search and type System Restore, using your Tab, Arrow and Enter Keys, you can select System Restore and choose a date before this happened.

The reason to have an Image file is for problems like this.
Boot off of your USB Rescue Flash Drive with Aomei Backupper.
Does the mouse work when booted to the Flash Drive? if so, there is nothing wrong with the Mouse.
Select Restore from the Left Panel, click Select Image file choose the one you previously created. Select the C: dive to restore to. Leave the D: drive alone. If the D: drive is a separate HDD/SSD, you can unplug it before proceeding to not accidentally overwrite it. This will restore your computer to the day and time that you made this image.

Unfortunately all my system restore images seem to have been deleted (maybe when I tried the windows repair.

Re my mouse the only time the pointer appeared was when I used the bootable Aomei USB. At all other times they were not picked up, even when I booted into Safe Mode.

The one time I could navigate into device manager i tried uninstalling the mouse driver in the hope that Windows would pick up its own driver but it didn't. Now I can't even get into device manager as pop up says I need administrator permission.

I think my only option is to cross my fingers and try the Aomei backup. I presume that image would restore the drivers that worked when I did the backup?
Unless anyone has any other suggestions?

You can select to restore only the os partition if you like.

In case my previous message didn't get through I just wanted to say that I have finally solved the problem using an Aomei backup image I had done two weeks ago. Problem solved.

    Thanks again
