On a Legacy-MBR, BIOS transfer the boot sequence to a drive MBR that will transfer to a master boot manager on an Active partition (drive 1 - System partition). This master boot manager will transfer the boot sequence to a partition (like Windows) that will boot. It is a serial chain mode.

I suggested on post 8 to do a clean install as UEFI-GPT. All partitions will be on the correct sequence

    or

I can give you instructions on how to create a System partition on drive 0, and then convert the drive from Legacy - MBR to UEFI - GPT using Convert Windows 10 from Legacy BIOS to UEFI without Data Loss

What do you want to do?

reg query showed firmware boot device as disk 0 partition 1.

Might be his bios reads ntfs partitions looking for efi folder. Mine does.

The boot device is disk 0 partition 1 (Windows partition)
The boot manager is on the System partition (Disk 1 partition 1)

Disk 0 and 2 are already GPT. It is Disk 1 that is the problem and it is MBR.

I just do not want to do a Windows re-install. So if I can create a System Partition on Drive 0, does that mean the Boot Manager can be moved to the new System Partition on Drive 0
