    Dave,

I ought to post this after your issues are resolved but am worried that I will forget.
WMP in both Win10 & Win11 might have lost its ability to rip CDs.
WMP cannot rip properly - my results post #75 - ElevenForum

    Try3:
I widened the column, but it doesn't show any extra info.
BUT - I have made progress, in organize/customize, deselecting "sync devices" removes the Seagate drive from
the left side. Whether it affects anything else (the folders I have explicitly added as library folders) I don't know.

I saw your post re: ripping CD's - I'll take a look, Is it related ?what are the ramifications of an external HDD being a "portale device"-wmp4.jpg

Understood. I should have recognised that from the Sync status entry below it.

No, it will not affect your Library folders [unless you run a sync with a device that does not have all the same contents].
I can't advise about managing syncs as I have not used it for a decade. I just use File explorer to copy audio to my smartphone.

    No, not related.
I added that post because I thought it would be of interest.

I'm still able to Rip audio CDs on both Win10 and Win11 BUT if a disc has previously been Ripped the choice will not show on the toolbar. Seems WMP 'remembers' what it has done regardless of what drive/where the Rip was saved.

Update: I was on a different computer [Win11] and the CD I used had already been Ripped and stored on my NAS drive. I'm on a different Notebook [Win10] now and am able to do a new Rip saving to local drive.

    HI all -
I gave it a go myself, my wife had just picked up Barbra Streisand's "Till I loved You" from 1988.
I waited until info from the internet filled in the Album title and tracklist, then ripped it to mp3 without issues.

Window 10 up to date as of 4/9/24:
    Edition Windows 10 Pro
    Version 22H2
    Installed on ‎8/‎14/‎2023
    OS build 19045.4291
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19056.1000.0
