On your laptop page there is no bios and/or firmware (for the Samsung PM981 SSD) to update?
No, I'm not sure, but laptop manufacturers often update SSD firmware.
You will have to try the new nvme when you think you have tried everything.
I don't think it is a hardware (NVMe) issue.
Why don't you shutdown the WiFi an let the computer on overnight to see if it is normal next morning.
