Mouse and keyboard not working in load screen but working in BIOS

Hi, i stumbled on this puzzle 6 months ago, I decided to unplug my HDD, install a new SSD with windows, and procastinate :) .
6 months later (yesterday), I plugged back the HDD and unplugged the SSD. The puzzle :
My mouse and keyboard work in the BIOS and in recovery mode. But in safe mode and normal login screen, they stop working completely. The screen is not frozen since i can see the time change.

    I tried :
    Enabling legacy USB support
    Trying all the USB ports

I don't have any restore points.
And i prefer to solve this without reinstalling windows (i have access to some social media accounts and various things only from that Windows user)
    Specs : i7 gtx 1060 6gb 16 ram
    Windows 10

Guess what, you either need to boot into safe mode, or do a repair install of Windows. Last is a complete install since you did not backup the computer.

Hi bro67, thank you for the reply, but Safe mode has the same mouse and keyboard problem.
About windows repair install, will i keep my internet browser logins etc ?
And (it will be painful and difficult to do) but can’t i just uninstall all drivers and reinstall them from a windows bootable recovery cmd ?
    Thank you

You had this problem six months ago. I suppose it was working and you did something to the system to get into this situation.
Do you remember what you did?

    Honestly i don’t, it’s probably after a windows update.

Is mouse and keyboard connected to a USB3.x?
If it is, connect to a USB2.0

What @Megahertz said. It appears the drivers for both the USB ports and the mouse and keyboard need reviewing in Device Manager. But usually USB mouse and keyboard worked with USB 2 in the BIOS with the OS loading drivers for USB 3 and the last few years some BIOSes can use either USB 2 or USB 3.

Hi berton thank you for the reply, like i said i tried every single usb port in my desktop i even removed the usb 3.0 from the motherboard. And additionaly I’m sure i don’t have hardware issues since pluging the ssd and booting windows 10 from it works fine.
Device manager is the solution but i can’t access it without mouse and keyboard, can the steps that should be done in device manager be replicated from the recovery cmd ? Or is there another solution that will help me at least access the device manager (i tried plugging a ps5 controller to use its touchpad as a mouse but not working)

Can't tell about the motherboard and its age, I have a custom running a Core i7-4770 that has USB 3 and also a PS/2 socket for mouse of keyboard which would be a good alternate if having such equipment.
    Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H PS/2 Green/Purple port
USB-2 Black ports USB-3 Blue ports

I actually have a ps/2 socket in the motherboard but wasn’t too optimistic about it, but since you said it i will buy a suitable mouse/keyboard today and try it
    Thanks
