I have almost no experience with "RAW" filesystems.
May be that "MiniTool Partition" can manage that.
But anyway, we need a new WinRE.wim. To get that you have to download the last "Media Creation Tool" (MCT) from MS.
There it will be in the sources folder install.esd or install.wim
To extract the file you need 7z
Temporarily we can create the Recovery Environment to C:\Recovery till the problem get fixed.

Hello Pentagon and thanks for all the assistance.

From what I read with the KB5034441 issue some PC's don't even have a recovery partition.

I do not use system restore and have no restore points.

I make system image of my C drive every couple of months. Last one is from January 1st. This way if I ever have an issue I can just restore the image. Any recent files (like stuff in Documents and the backup of my check program) I keep a copy on C and a backup copy on E. That way if I have to restore to a couple of months old image I have backups of all recent documents on E.

With all this said I don't see the need to spend anymore time trying to fix the recovery partition and install KB5034441.

If you know of an actual need I would have for the recovery partition please tell me. If you don't then I think you and I have spent enough time on this.

Again, Thanks for all the assistance. The main issue of getting the 20 GB restored to usable drive space was accomplished!

It would have been possible to create a Recovery Environment in C:\Recovery.
OK. We both learned s.th. new.
    Have a good day
