Window updates disable Bluetooth dongle, is no longer working

On Tuesday, March 5 I updated my desktop Windows.
As Bluetooth (BT) device I have an EVEO BT 5.1 plugged in.
although I never was really happy with the performance of the aforementioned it worked okay.

Windows would no longer detect any Bluetooth devices.
Plugged in the same backup dongle, same problem!

I did have some compatibility issues in the past when a BT 4.0 headset would not work with that BT 5.1 dongle.
When I plugged in an old 4.0 dongle everything worked.
The aforementioned BT 5.1 no longer works though.

No errors or flaws in the device manager no errors in the device manager, all drivers installed and working.
Anyone a clue what's going on?

Hi, to which updates are you referring? (See your Update History).

Presumably you've checked the settings for BT devices- e.g. the tile in the Action Centre, and Settings..

    Have you tried the troubleshooter?

If you uninstall the updates one by one, does your BT device then work again?

It becomes truly amazing the endless meaningless content filling blah blah one can find on the "World Wide Web of mis- dis and malinformation," not to solve anything but most likely trying to sell you something at the end.

Eventually I came across an obscure website with a rather amateurish 1980s design who had in a couple of short to the point sentences the solution to the problem I was facing.

Bluetooth dongles, while all are identified as Bluetooth and the system recognizes them as such, have other specific configurations depending on their version, respectively driver , vendor ID and memory addressing etc. Although most of them don't need a driver installed or Windows takes care of it, there is still in lieu of any intelligence a few manual steps to do.

    The solution:
    Unplug your BT dongle.
In device manager delete/uninstall all the current Bluetooth entries.
    Reboot.
Then plug in your other/different/new BT dongle.
Windows detects, configures, installs and everything is up and running like a charm!

PS I never to this day ever succeeded with anything when I tried troubleshooter!
The notorious response is most of the time when I attempted to use it the stupid answer "troubleshooter could not find any problems".
