Did you install iTunes from the Microsoft Store?

No. From within the program (Check for Updates)

    Try manually reinstalling the drivers:
    1. Open File Explorer.
    2. Copy/paste %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers into the address bar.
    3. Look for the driver information file called usbaapl64.inf then right-click on it and choose Install.

If this doesn't work and you're still getting an 0xE error then I think you're going to have to follow the 'official' Apple troubleshooting route step-by-step.

See If your computer doesn’t recognise your iPhone or iPad - which may mean contacting Apple Support about the 0xE error.

The goal was to get iTunes to see the iPad, which I came about fortuitously with the update to iOS 17.4. Then since there was a question raised about a missing driver or two from the screenshot I posted, I asked about that (current one below). However, what's said to be missing hasn't prevented me from transferring files from PC to iPad.

You only need the additional drivers to carry out a Restore in DFU mode... so the chances of you needing them are slight.

If everything is now working as you want then you can safely leave the additional drivers until such time as you may need them. probably never.

    Hope this helps...
