    Can't rename portable drive

I have a disk that appears to be immune to having its name changed, at least when the disk is identified in win10 file explorer, all other changes to the disk's name will appear in disk managment, diskpart, etc. The name of the disk is the same as the iso file that was used to create it. The iso file is win10 pro and was created in ntlite from a download from MS, the iso was installed using Rufus with the USB bootable option. I've formatted the boot partition, and before re-installing the bootfile with BCDBoot, the file name still persisted when the disk was read in File Manager, and no matter what system the disk is attached to, the name persist. The disk icon is a USB stick. From this, I assume that the disk name used by File Manager is different from the disk name used by Disk Management, etc, and that the location of this record field isn't on the boot partition, and is locked somehow. Anyone know how to change the disk name that's read by File Explorer?

    Hello Jerry, and welcome.

Since this is for a USB, option eight in the tutorial below to rename it using an autorun.inf file may work best in this situation.

Set your system to show hidden files and look for an AUTORUN.INF file and nuke it.

That worked, but in a round-about way. The iso name did exist in the ini file on the root, however, I was unable to edit the file, it would open but refused to be saved, even after unlocking the file with EMCO Unlock. The disk wasn't the boot disk while this occurred, it was attached to a system running win10 home so I don't know if the problem with saving the edited ini file could have been resolved by booting to the disk that contained the file because I just deleted the ini file using EMCO. After rebooting, File Manager displayed the new name of the disk. I deduce that the ini file overrode the disk name that was earlier changed, but was only done by File Manager, and Disk Management, etc. did not use the ini file to display the disk name.
