    Need BIOS upgrade & ASUS says they don't recognize PC serial #


    I needed my PC serial number and model to upgrade my BIOS from the ASUS website and it said it don't recognize the serial number. Called customer support twice and they were baffled. I told them I took the S/N from the back of the PC and that I couldn't find the Model Type. (System Information in Windows doesn't list a Model and neither does Advanced Settings in BIOS.) Customer Support told me to look at the bottom of the PC for the Model and there's nothing on the bottom of the PC! So they concluded my PC is out-of-warranty and needs to be sent to a technician or to ASUS to be upgraded for a fee of $85! The PC is only a few yrs old! What a hassle just to upgrade the BIOS.

    Assuming we're talking about the motherboard in your computer specs....

    Here the latest BIOS for your motherboard...

    Format a USB stick as Fat32, then do the following.
    Use the renamer tool (included with the BIOS), to rename the BIOS file as follows...

    This is from YOUR motherboard manual.

    Thank you so much!!! That info is perfect! It saves me a big headache from dealing with the ASUS website/customer support. I'm going to try it.
