Intermittent Double Mouse Clicks When Only Single Click Is Desired

    I'm running Windows Pro V22H2 Build 19045.4046
    Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19053.1000.0

When sitting on the desktop or in File Explorer (top menu, folder tree and file view pane), if I right click on an icon to access the icon context menu, it will intermittently do a double click. This means that the context menu will display, close automatically, then reopen. Most of the time single clicks work as as intended (single click).

When right clicking on an app in the Windows system tray to access it's context menu, the first time right click will intermittently do a double click. Any subsequent right clicks work as they are supposed to until it doesn't.

I have also noticed this in games for example in World of Warcraft. When in game and purchasing an item from a vendor, say a bag vendor, when right clicking, I'll get more than one item in my inventory bag. (ex. if buying 1 bag, 2 or more bags will be added to my inventory.

Again all of this is intermittent. I've tried rebooting, then it works fine for a about 5-10 minutes. Then it's intermittent from there.

This all started after one of the recent Windows Updates within the last 2-4+ months but I'm having trouble pinning down which update. I've tried installing updated drivers for my mouse but that doesn't work.

I don't believe I have any malware or virus since I'm not seeing any other anomalies.

Any thoughts what else I could try?

You may have a worn out noisey switch on your mouse, they do fail after a while, try a different mouse before you start ripping that system apart.

The mouse has a small switch that can begin to bounce, generating more than one click. It has already happen twice on mine.
    Try another mouse.
