There is no time limit for a Computer to fail as long as you don't overclock. Some can fail in days others are still working after decades.

- I had a GA-Z87 intel MB (2013) that began to shut down once a week (after 4 years of normal use). Than the period began to be shorter and shorter to the point it couldn't stay on for more than a minute. No overclock. Replaced the MB with a Asus Z97 and it is still working
- I have an old Intel laptop that also died.
- A friend had a i5 (3rd gen) that died. No overclock.

Never had any Intel computer till 2011 (most were AMD) when I made my first Intel. Never had any AMD that failed.
My next computer will be AMD because Intel is always changing the CPU socket.

Today my computer is a Intel i5 (6th gen) and Gigabyte MB. So far so good.

I agree with @Ghot. Best MB is Asus. Then Gigabyte and MSI.
