Disconnect Nav Unit, uninstal Express, uninstall drivers, reboot, ReInstall Express, Run Express, Reconnect your GPS and wait for it to be detected.

Never had problems with Garmin Express nor nuvi. Not sure if it's the point but are you using the original Garmin usb cabel?

Sorry xXTenXx, I have no any other suggestions. If the GPS gets connected and working in your car, then probably you got faulty pins in the usb ports, either on the computer or nuvi. Which means it can be powered but not data-transfering.

I have checked the Garmin cable with my phone, and it can transfer data, therefore the problem is Windows, (I think).

I had this same issue a few months ago when I updated the maps. I also installed a memory card due to the increasing maps sizes.

Was puzzled by Windows not finding the device. Turns out I just had to wait for about 5 minutes or so before it found it. I believe in my case it was due to the memory card I installed in the device.

Is there a way to check the pins of computer's usb port? Just plug another device with data transfer, like phone or camera, memory stick, etc.
Or unplug the GPS and from Device Manager show hidden devices, scroll to the ones on the picture /they are shaded, ghosts or inactive/ and uninstall them. Then plug in back again. This will reinstall them.
