Crucial SSD Went RAW in the file system

Greetings, hope someone can help here...

Just recently got a Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD to serve as extra storage space to my other(main) SSD
Installed into my home build, drive named it, and formatted it to NTFS and initially could not move a folder into it, after reboot I could.
Longer story short, I moved a file into it after it seemed to be working fine for a few days, then a few days later the drive now cannot be opened.

Under Computer managment, I now see the drive is l listed as a RAW file system

Would like to get the data back if possible, and confirm whether the SSD is good and stop this from happening again.

Am not very experienced with computers

Thank you very much!! This is sooo frustrating.

Thank you for the suggestions, EaseUS wanted to charge a large amount of money for the recovery, and DiskGenius only let me copy 2 very small files before I have to register and pay $69. I have a fair number of files of decent size to retreive.

Any other options? I will look further also.

However, have you seen this no software recovery approach?

Just found Recuva, will try that tomorrow...

No, I did not have the software to check for errors. It did see all of the files I expected to be there, but would only allow me to copy over 2 files...
The software is not too intuitive for me, some of the instructions I found online were outdated. Was not sure what my first approach should be

You will have to use a data recovery program in that case.

you could try running the free version of recuva

    Hi @MrMatt,

Your SSD has a drive letter. So it is not a partition lost problem. It is a file system corruption.

Read this thread WD Elements being read as RAW // Contents readable through app - Windows 7 Forums and post #6 in it to understand the work flow using TestDisk.

Follow the procedure outlined here External drive data Lost - Windows 10 which is almost a repeat of that thread sans the screenshots.

If any of the Volume bootsector is bad, it should be repaired. If MFT is corrrupt it should be repaired.

If TestDisk finds both Volume boot sectors are OK and also MFT and MFT Mirror is OK then and only then you should run check disk as mentioned in that post.
