Y580 Laptop (ideapad) - Type 2099 cannot update bios windows 10

That doesn't make much sense how does the bios update work sometimes it's a file you use within Windows to update other you can boot a utility to do it or even from the bios on some. It could be the update need 7 to run you could get the bios and right click and run as 7 most give an option to backup the bios first if it does be sure to do that so you can role back. I am guessing as it's old bios that it will work on 10 just when it was written it was pre 10

I think that means you can run the 5dcn39ww.exe from within windows 7.

It might be safer to update bios from within bios instead of from within windows. If there is a bios facility to do it that way.

On most machines you can put the bios file e.g. QIWY3207.ROM on a fat32 usb stick. Then boot into bios where there is a tab called something like bios update or bios flash or bios ez flash or something similar. I dont know if that is available in your bios. Have a look.
