Famous last words :) Is there a way to scan only without it making changes? Or will it prompt me before taking any actions?
    Google is still your friend.

I googled "sfc parameters" and 1st hit

    sfc /verifyonly

However, seems rather pointless doing this as it only makes changes if it detects errors.

Anyway, what are you going to do if it tells you its got errors?
You have no control over what it fixes anyway.

If you are really worried, make an image backup first.

Yup, I will be doing this. Thanks.

My google search was less effective and I didn't find the /verifyonly command quickly enough. Sorry about that.

If you knew my current life situation, you would understand why I am not currently at full bandwidth or brainpower.

Hey, the fact you ask is the key thing. Illegitimi non carborundum (mock Latin - Don't let the b*st*rds grind you down)

Hey guys - Just wanted to check in to let you know that so far Win10 has been running great ... and runs significantly faster than my Win7 installation.

I appreciate everybody's help in sticking with my issues and encouraging me to get the install completed. In 2024 I will get new hardware and move to Win11. In the meantime, if I run into any further issues, I will post.

    Thanks again!

    Mike

Oh yes - one quirk I did run into - not sure if I should post as a new thread ... in Windows 10, it seems that I cannot gain access to the directories on the Windows 7 partition, though I can access all contents of the other data drives. If this is not a known issue, I will post further details.
