    Close but no cigar

I ripped a running SSD out of my laptop and stuffed it into my old Dell Studio. Up and running fine with only a few minor hiccups, so i'm thinking i'll just run it like this. The last know glitch i have is power management isn't sleeping or hibernating. Chipset Intel P45 driver maybe? I have no idea how to uninstall the old reminant chipset drivers.

I migrated an installed Windows 10 from an older Toshiba Intel based laptop (a W10 upgraded from its original OEM Win7) to a newer Acer AMD based one.

To get rid of unwanted leftovers my first step was to uninstall all its Toshiba OEM utilities. Next go through the Device Manager (with 'View > show hidden devices' turned on) and unintalled all unwanted/inappropriate devices. When asked, tick the box for 'attempt to delete drivers'. Finally, for those hard to find last few remnants, there's DriverStoreExplorer. Use with care! You could end up removing more than you intended.

Thank you for your consideration my brother...
sound advice. i think the old laptop's chipset drivers are still in play after the SSD transplant into the new/old PC. Windows power setting still had the laptops battery slider visible until i changed a power setting. So i'm thinking the old intel chipset needs to be uninstalled for windows to grab the right one, but i don't know what to uninstall under system in device manager to make that happen. I suppose i could just uninstall likely candidates until we freeze, the reboot and hope for the best. haha Boy, but everything is perfect with the OS, just no sleep or or hibernate after the assigned time. sleep and hibernate work manually just fine. I have a sneaky feeling that a window repair install won't address a chipset driver. hmmm, device manager... eeny meeeny miney moe. it's probably moe. always is.

I found 10 year old version of intel chipset 9. I figured since that driverset was close-ish to the same age as my PC I would give it a whirl. the chimes rang and the device manager flashed and all sorts of magic happened. about 6 entries in the system for ich10 magically appeared, and i'll be you a nickel that power management will be behaving now from here on in.

and still no joy. windows / setttings / power still shows the battery lifetime slider for laptops, and this is a desktop. i would hate to resort to a reset.

a last effort had me uninstalling the only software that would run on startup. itunes. now the computer goes to sleep normally.
