As I mentioned, I do the backup/restore using the Acronis boot disk, never from within Windows. I know that the Windows version has the Clone Disk feature, but I (wrongly) assumed that the Acronis boot disk only had the backup/restore option. Next time I'll look for the Clone disk tool under "Tools&Utilities tab" , I'm sure the boot disk has that option too. Thanks
The screenshot is from the boot disk I made. I had to boot from the flash drive and use my phone to take the picture.

I have used the boot disk to make a number of clones. For example, I replaced the 512GB SSD in my laptop with a 1TB one. When done Acronis True Image had automatically extended the C: partition to fill the whole disk.

Great! Thanks for your pointing this out. I should've gone the clone route had I not assumed wrongly. Anyway, backup/restore worked fine, other than having to extend the partition later.

Here is a screenshot of the Acronis True Image 2018 boot disk. Cloning is in the Tools menu. However, your menus may be a little different.

I think that had I chosen to clone the disk instead of backup/restore, it would've saved me all that trouble
