    computer/disk management resize partition issue

this has been bugging me for a long time but does anyone know a way that disk management can take some space from another partition from the same drive that is NOT next to the partition itself?

in current, lets say theres partition below:

    Disk 0: partition A, partition B, partition C and D-unallocated space

lets say I want to have the unallocated space be used by partition A, well I can't because it is not next to partition A. however partition C can use it cause its right next to it.

this basically means you have to determine correctly at start of windows installation and makes it difficult as many times I have dual or tri boot for testing purposes.

how can this be done? or if anyone knows a software for this would be great.

Minitool Partition Wizard (free) can do that... but not like you'd think.
With Minitool you'd "move" partitions B and C to the far right... then you'd be left with unallocated space right next to partition A.
Unallocated space has magic powers. It automatically moves to where ever there are no valid partitions, as long as the rest of the drive is partitioned.

Let's say we're discussing a drive like this...

You would "move" the Recovery partition all the way to the right. Then "poof", the unallocated space is right next to the C:\ partition. Then you can resize the C:\ partition to include the unallocated space.

Minitool "does" have a "Merge" option, which "might allow you to just add the unallocated to the Windows partition in one step. But I always do it manually. It keeps me in practice for programs that aren't as powerful as Minitool.

You just have to keep a few things in mind... like you can't "move" a page file. You have to disable it, then recreate it in a new location. Same is true for something like the EFI System partition... etc.

So when you ask questions like this... you need to post a Disk Management screenshot, so we know how to advise you.

You can use minitool partition wizard free. It is a little intimidating at first but it is a good tool. There are a lot of post here about using it just type it in the search box.

Edit: I see Ghot posted while I was typing.

BUT ... BUT ... BUT .... given this appears unfamiliar to you and you're still learning, image frequently. Macrium Reflect and/or AOMEI Backupper (both freeware)

Image > Make a change > Change worked? Good, image again > Try some more changes > Changes worked? Good. Image again > try another change .... Drat! Won't boot > Boot from program recovery USB and restore previous image > Try again ....

Disk management by design does not display hidden partitions.

To view hidden partitions either diskpart or third party software can report or display them.

    Run: Diskpar info:
