Question about SSD compatibility with my motherboard

I was looking at this SSD for a possible upgrade to my system. My motherboard is an Asus Z97-A if someone could please tell me if it would would work it I'd much appreciate it. Also, could I apply my Macrium Reflect backup image to the new SSD? Thanks! Amazon.com

From the Z97-A Manual you can install a M.2 SSD on it.
Make sure you have the 3503 BIOS version installed

The Samsung 990 PRO is a Gen4 X4. It is one of the best on the market but your MB won't be able to use all the power it can deliver.

The main thing with changing a drive is that there are 2 SSD drives but the mounting is different, one is the SATA type and the other is the NVMe type. I have one older Notebook with a 120GB SSD drive in the SATA port and other newer ones with the NVMe drive. The type of mounting is important to know as many Desktop computers can have both types on the motherboard.

A SATA drive can be either SSD or HDD, the older mounting was know as IDE but can be PATA since the SATA came about.
SATA = Serial ATA PATA = Parallel ATA
SATA drives use only one cable to the motherboard and the PATA could have 2 drives per ribbon cable, one Master and the other Slave. Both have separate power cables.

The manual for the motherboard states that the M.2 slot on it is for M-Key PCIE (NVMe) SSD's only, not SATA.

Yes, that SSD will work in the M.2 slot on your motherboard.
