Epson Printer - stopping software/firmware updates

Windows 10 Pro, up-to-date with latest updates.
I have recently (2023) bought an Epson XP-8700 photo printer, mainly for its similarity to my old Epson PX-710W and its print quality.
Before buying it, I read many articles about stopping software/firmware updates, which I followed during the installation process, deselecting quite a few offers of updates.
However, there is one consistent offer for a firmware update, showing on the printer’s screen. I have selected the option to remind me later, which it frequently does. Selecting the other option – to update the firmware – shows another message which only allows me to proceed with the update.
How can I prevent this prompt from appearing?

Because many printer manufacturers slip 'original print cartridge only' detection into their firmware updates and... bingo! your expenses on ink now outweigh the cost of the printer.

A Google search for epson xp 8700 stop firmware update shows lots of results, including videos.

    Hope this helps...

    Software/Firmware updates

    Thanks for the replies.
Yes, although I intend to use Epson cartridges initially, a firmware update can prevent the future use of compatible cartridges.
I have read very many entries and followed every one, during and after installation, that could prevent a firmware update. I did see one entry that mentions the prompt which appears on the printer screen but the solution, to select the 'update' option and from the response select 'never' wasn't accurate because selecting 'update' only showed another prompt that allowed me to do the update. I killed that process.
So, periodically and especially when the the printer is switched of and then on, the system still invites me to perform a firmware update. The mistake would be to select 'dismiss' which, surprisingly, does perform the update.
