Prevent Windows Update from Updating Specific Device

For the last few days I have an issue with an unwanted driver issue on Window 10 that doing a Google and looking elsewhere on this site seems to be common.

“There were some problems installing updates”
The following is listed in my update history multiple times with different dates
    Canon – Printer – 10.75.2.11
    Failed to install 22/08/2023 - 0x800f020b
    Canon – Printer – 3.30.2.12
    Failed to install 22/08/2023 - 0x800f020b

Firstly I do not have a Canon printer only an Epson XP-630 which works perfectly

I have tried the following:- (with no luck in resolving this issue)
Run Windows Update Trouble-shooter under Printers - only my Epson is listed which works fine Clear Windows Update Cache
    Run SFC and DISM Scans
    Perform a System Restore

Searching this forum, I found Prevent Windows Update from Updating Specific Device tutorial which seems to be heading in the right direction.
In Windows 10 Home edition, which doesn’t have Group Policy Editor:
    By changing the Registry.

Problem is I don’t know the device Hardware ID for a device that doesn’t exist.

Any suggestions would be appreciated to clear this issue, thanks in advance

Hi, try running this to see if you have anything related to Canon:
    Download DriverStore Explorer - MajorGeeks

    Consider:
[SOLVED] Win10 Home - updates looking for non-existent printer. How to remove info? - Windows 10

and a registry search for Canon

This may allow you to hide/block the failing updates

    - note- the title for the URL in that artice is wrong- it's not the troubleshooter.

Hide or Show Windows Updates in Windows 10

And here's a 3rd party tool to scan for and optionally hide updates:

Thanks,Looks like you may have hit the nail on the head, found Canon drivers straght away from ,if I just delete the 4 Canon drivers from driver store explorer should that resolve the issue without having to mess around with registry etc?

Hopefully-- you may need to check there are none hidden in there- once you've deleted the obvious ones, then also search the folder.

    Seem to be a lot..

Getting there, 2 dated 06/23 are deleted, 2 dated 03/18 are still there and won't go with using force deletion. At least I have the information on them. Thanks once again for the help, will try again later.

    Good.. more options here (techincal):
Remove Old and Useless Drivers from the Windows Driver Store | Windows OS Hub

& note the Disk Cleanup tool option at the bottom.
