Sound Drivers and Switchable Graphics for HP ProBook 4540s on Win 10

    Hello,

I installed Windows 10 64bit 22h2 on an older HP ProBook 4540s laptop, everything works even the sound (Microsoft High Definition driver is used).

The problem is that the sound plays quite quietly and there is no other way to increase it, I have the volume at full.
Could it be that the original driver is not being used? On Windows 7 it used the "IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver". Unfortunately, this driver is not available for Windows 10 on the manufacturer's website. Can it be found elsewhere? I didn't find any official source and I don't use any dubious driver updaters.

This laptop has 2 graphics cards, how can I switch between them? The drivers for both graphics cards were installed via Windows Update.

BTW I talk about my second computer, it has nothing to do with my PC specification on my profile.

    Notebook specifications are here: Alza.cz

    Thank you.

Hi, as you know, you are responsible for resolving issues on older unsupported hardware, and there are no guarantees of continued problem-free operation.

A few users find certain features work up to a certain build of Win 10, and not thereafter.

As to finding missing drivers for unsupported hardware, that's the only case where I might suggest using a driver installer program. Try SDI - Snappy Driver Installer (free).

Take due precautions (e.g. System Restore).

"This laptop has 2 graphics cards, how can I switch between them? "

You can't, you have to configure Optimus for each application which basically sends 3D graphics calls through the 2nd card which I assume is an Nvidia GPU. The video output is common to both the iGPU and GPU.

You will need to use the Nvidia Control panel to do that. There has been some integration with Windows 10 Graphics settings.

"The problem is that the sound plays quite quietly and there is no other way to increase it, I have the volume at full.

You should still have the Realtek Controls.
Right click Speaker icon bottom right > Sounds > Select your speaker or headphones > Properties > Enhancements Tab > scroll down the box and Tick the Loudness Equalisation box > Apply, OK etc.

Using Headphones is better in both quality and output levels over Laptop speakers which are too small and never good.

Drivers will not do anything, there is limit to a Laptop's audio output.

GPU is AMD Radeon HD7650M 2GB

Loudness Equalisation do almost unnoticeable difference.

The laptop is an Intel Sandy Bridge 6th generation. It probably came with Win 10 on it.
Did you go to the HP drivers page and searched for the drivers?
    hp-probook-4540s

It has a recent BIOS F68A (2019). I suggest you update the BIOS to the latest.

    It came with Wndows 7.

    I have latest BIOS installed.

As you can see on official site are no audio drivers for Windows 10.
