Windows Or AMD Installs Sound Driver For Monitor With No Audio Ports

I searched and all I could find was issues with no sound from monitor. My issue is the reverse, well sort of.
For some reason Windows or AMD installs audio driver for my new monitor with no audio ports. Monitor is an Acer SB272 EBI 27" Full HD as listed in my PC specs.

When I booted up the first time Windows or AMD makes the monitor sound my default sound device and the result is no sound. I changed the sound settings and disabled the monitor sound device. I can't figure out is why a sound driver is installed for a monitor with no sound or mic ports.

This is coming from a clean windows 10 install. The monitor sound driver wasn't there until I put my XFX video card back in. I didn't install any video drivers.
Any ideas as to why the driver was installed?

HDMI audio driver, like you mentioned it was not there until you put the graphics card in. Just uninstall that audio driver of just disable the audio adapter.

From where? It doesn't show up anywhere except in Manage Sound Devices shown above. Its not in Device Manager or Uninstall Programs.

I performed a test with a new Windows 10 install without the XFX video card and used the Intel on board video. Microsoft installs over 100 drivers for the integrated video. The same happens with the XFX video card also with over 100 drivers.

See if your system has a ton of drivers installed for the video card if you don't mind.
Open Device Manager, Expand Display Adapters, right click properties on your video card, click driver details tab and then driver details.

    Integrated video drivers installed =157
XFX Video drivers installed = 163

    Thanks for your suggestion though!

Disable windows automatically installing drivers, would be the first area to define.

    Other options:
    - Uninstall the audio device from device manager under the audio heading, remove device.
    - Delete the driver from C:\Windows\System32\drivers
    - Use block lists to block the audio driver.

You could also just disable the audio adapter for the monitor and forget about it, this would be the easiest option.

This is a edge case where windows is installing the HDMI audio driver because it can tell you have a HDMI compatible device it won't matter if you are using that audio device or not.

The monitor doesn't have audio adapter. No ports as shown in my first post.

IMO, the audio drivers look fine and normal. I believe the video drivers installs audio drivers because an HDMI cable is detected. I don't think drivers even check to see if audio ports are present on the monitor, at least in my case.

I have it disabled as shown above so it's ok. It was weird that drivers were installed for a monitor without audio ports.

    Thanks for your suggestions though!

I got rid of the HDMI audio driver option in Manage Sound devices by using the AMD drivers removal tool.
Then I extracted the video driver folder only from the AMD video card install program and used that to install my video driver.

That is what i said lol the HDMI audio driver is installing because you have a HDMI device installed it does not matter if the monitor has audio or not.

Yes that is the adapter you need to disable/remove what ever you want to do lol. The adapter you disabled is the HDMI one it would say the monitors name if the monitor had Audio functionality but because this is not the case it will be called what ever the GPU calls it.

It does not matter i think its lost in translation here because we are saying the same thing but i don't think you realize what i meant and i didn't describe it that well either.
