"Best" SDXC 1TB to expand storage in laptop?

Dell XPS 9560

1TB SSD partitioned into OS and storage, 32MB RAM



I download live cam streams 24/7 onto D-drive and it can get overwhelmed if I don't keep on top of them - which involves fetching them up into a video editor, scanning thru for and extracting "events", then deleting the original downloaded files when finished with.

I cannot have any more external gadgets dangling off this dang laptop, which has flaky USB connections and already has USB trackball and an external speaker because the internals have failed.

I'm hoping that a 1TB SD card will be the solution, but the specs are flummoxing me - it needs to be fast to act as just another partition, and it needs to be reliable. (BTW, I would then expand C-drive a bit to give OS and progs more wriggle-room.)

Amazon Prime Day has some on offer but I'm not going to quibble over price, it's the speed and quality that matter to me - do you have experience/advice to offer?

It's not going to be for long-term backup - it's for saving live video streams to temporarily while I work on them, then they will be deleted.

(I could have had a second drive installed - if only this XPS didn't have the larger battery that takes up too much space - and I don't even use it on battery but there was no choice from Dell at the time, flexible they are not!)

There's trouble with links because they've sussed I'm not American.

But it looks as tho something would have to end up dangling from this laptop - which, in my difficult circumstances, is undesirable to say the least.

Have I got the wrong impression?

When I had a Clevo I might have attempted internal pottering, but this Dell is more "complexly" assembled and more fragile, IMO.

I had a look at that option a while ago - I'm restricted to more expensive models because it has to be workable on a real live lap! So a good video-editing laptop with a bit of future-proofing could cost me about £3000 now.

It is not worth spending much on a 7th gen machine.

Bigger nvme is a reasonable suggestion.

If I am thinking of the correct dell, there is a smaller battery which reveals space for a sata ssd but it requires a little adapter and getting the smaller battery, probably not worth it.

You are correct, and any internal work would have to be referred to a professional - so it would be very expensive.

Those are well reviewed and low power draw. If you are a prime member it seems a good price. Are those deals only available on 11th &12 July ?
