Those are well reviewed and low power draw. If you are a prime member it seems a good price. Are those deals only available on 11th &12 July ?
Yes, the prices are for Prime Days only - but I don't know whether they can disappear during in that time. However... Crucial X6 = 62% off @ £72.99 - but the non-deal price says £85.06.

I remember Hynix having a good rep for RAM "in the old days" when I used to build my own desktops - but those days are long gone.

I just nearly bought a Crucial X8 portable SSD from Ghot's list (I didn't realise they could be so small!) but then read that it can get very hot... Heat is mentioned in reviews for some other models too. Do you think the Hynix/container combo is the better way to go?

Am fading fast, the deals will probably be over when I next get going

the hynix p31 is much better. Good endurance and low power draw.

The Best NVMe SSD for Laptops and Notebooks: SK hynix Gold P31 1TB SSD Reviewed

But that's not the whole story when it comes to the Gold P31. The drive's power efficiency is far above the competition; it uses less power than many SATA SSDs while delivering high-end NVMe performance. Thanks to good co-design of their 128L 3D NAND and their in-house NVMe SSD controller, SK hynix has completely redefined our standards for NVMe SSD power efficiency and turned in the most surprising benchmark results in my five years of working for AnandTech.

But the slowest C2 class can apparently manage 2 MB/s, and the fastest rate I see on the OP's table is 2 GB/hr = 0.5 MB/s

see A guide to speed classes for SD and microSD Cards - Kingston Technology

    I can't vouch for quality...

I'm probably being paranoid because video editing is involved, and sometimes scrolling thru footage is like walking thru treacle (not that I've tried that!).

Anyway, I've gone for the Hynix with a Sabrent enclosure (which seemed the simplest, by no means the cheapest).

    Sincere thanks to all!

@clemenzina I recommended you to buy a new 2T NVMe and replace the current and use the current on the USB adapter for 3 reasons:
    - A new NVMe is probably much faster then the current as the SSD technology has been getting better every day.
    - A fast NVMe will never have the same performance on a the USB adapter than on a M.2 slot inside the computer so it makes more sense to put the better on the laptop and the other on the USB adapter.
    - As you probably know, erasing and writing on a flash memory does short it's life. As you do a lot of erasing and writing your SSD has a lot less available space on it.

Put the new NVMe on the USB adapter and clone the current SSD to the new one.
To replace the NVMe is very easy. Open the back cover and remove the only screw on the current SSD. Lift the SSD and pull. Insert the new on on the slot (push in and push down) and put back the screw.
You probably find a video on the YouTube.

They're still available. I've just bought one seconds ago and had the order confirmed by email, arrival on Friday.
