thanks i took 4 dongles and a wifi dongle i had and there respective devices all connected the the pc. but the original devices will not connect to the pc or any of those dongles. so i tried all my other devices and they all would connect to each dongle automatically so maybe this pc wound up at goodwill because the keyboard and mouse failed to connect and they just pitched the whole thing. i know a wired mouse connects so let see if the wired keyboard will with that adapter i have in the mail
    thanks

ok i got the round pc to usb adapter and it turns out that win ten will not recognize the keyboard. so does anyone happen to know of a driver for the older keyboards? this one is a gateway keyboard if that make any difference. before i toss out the adapter i may just need a driver for it that win10 can't find.

    thanks

so i borrowed a keyboard that has a 2.4gh dongle and that will not connect to the pc. so i tried to use the original keyboard and mouse and they do not connect to that 2.4gh dongle so back to getting a usb keyboard. i was hoping that older keyboard would have worked but i have a 1.00 into the adapter so not out much and was worth a try.

believe it or not not one second hind store in my area has any usb keyboards

    oh well thanks

I dunno, but you've avoided the simple question: What is the HP Model # on the bottom of the keyboard?

that was posted a bit above the last reply but the pc model is 23-b010 the keyboard is kg-1061 the mouse is mg-0982

i did finally just get a keyboard and mouse to work. the keyboard the neighbor brought over and the mouse from my laptop finally connected with the dongle from the mouse. so for now i have a system i can at least get into. and get working until i can get a wired keyboard. the mouse from the wifes laptop should work.

to bad the original parts failed to work.
    thanks

This blog indicates you need a HP RG-0983, which several are available on eBay (about $12 USD).

thanks i will check them out i'm figuring your telling me this is the dongle. i just looked them up and will order one.
now that i have a keyboard and mouse not the original ones but working ones i have the setting screen up and it is telling me i reached the end of service for the version of wn10 home. so it is downloading rather slow some updates and maybe it iwll update the OS and i may get the pro version. i tried to put my ESD win10 pro stick in the usb port and boot to it and it will not let me change the boot order. so the uefi is not letting me change the boot order just yet. but maybe it have a workable OS after the updates.

this pc has the AMD E2-1800 APU with radeon (tm) HD graphics 1.70 GHZ speed i may wind up changing that out if i can to a faster processor or one that will me win11 compatible

it show 4gb ram but i have 8gb in it so it may not have seated a ram stick well 64gb operating system x64 based processor

    thanks

Most people don't think about reading the P/N, and eBay is littered with keyboards/mice without dongles, and dongles without keyboards/mice. The dongle is a solid-state device, they're hard to damage unless they've been drenched in liquids.

You don't need a driver, it appears as a keyboard device. Just hold down the recessed button on the keyboard's bottom for a few seconds until you see the dongle's LED flash.

thanks. i will have to visit those later. now i'm doing updates and installs and will see how it preforms. i have to take the back off again to check the ram as it is only seeing 4gb and i have 8 in it. i took out 6gb that it did see. so one stick must not have seated very well. then i will see if it is win11 capable, most likely not but it could be. it would not let me change the boot order yet i may have to play with it some if this update is not win10 pro. the esd stick i have is for win10 pro and this is a x64 bit machine so it should run that os. it does have the uefi turned on i did see turn on legacy but it did not go into that section when i hit enter. so it may not switch over to legacy so that i can put the wifes laptop hard drive in this pc for a faster setup. but i will try anyway it may just work.

ok found the ram stick was not seated? first time i had that happen but better than a bad stick. i got it to boot from the usb so now i'm doing win10 pro for the OS and i see it has not tpm so i may be able to install that chip? plus the pcu is not supported so i may be able it swap out the pcu for a faster and supported chip and have a good working pc.

so if any one has one of these hp pavilion 23 all in one model 23-b010 pc's with the amd e2-1800 chip in it and did an upgrade please send that along. it is possible i can't upgrade so it will be what it is.

the pc health check told me i need the tpm and the processor is not supported so maybe i can get those someday

    thanks

ok i did finally get a keyboard and mouse to work and this is a slow machine. so for what the wife uses one for i tried to see if i could put another faster mother board into this one and the hp forum told me it will not work and to toss it out.

so i did a restore on it and before i added anything the the first screen after the restore i turned it off and back on to see what might happen and i get the splash screen and it wants a password for a defaulto0 user. so i have not clue what a default0 password might be i tried the one i had and 0000 and 1234 they failed so if there is not password then i have to go back into the bios and see if i can reset it to boot again from the usb ESD stick and just redo the thing so i can sell it. there may be someone that is looking for one. i would keep it if it ran the wifes casino games but it just sets there and does nothing when on the sites she plays those games on.

so before i tear back into it maybe someone can tell me it there is a default password for the beginning? if not then back to the ESD stick and just reset it back to a fresh install.

    thanks
