Sorry. I seem to have drifted away, in search of ideal configurations.

Any opinion on the Gigabyte G1.Sniper B6 (specs)? PCPartPicker seems to say it's pretty close to an ideal match for my hardware. Apparently not available at Amazon, but $66 at Newegg.

Whats wrong with the Asus board? its a pretty good board too for its era, if it works no problem you should just continue using that.

    $66 ?

I am not sure it is worth spending much on old tech.

if you could pick up a b85 for half of that, it might be worth a try.

or just stick with what you have got for the time being and put the $66 towards a newer system.

Second hand intel 8th/9th gen ( h310 or b365 motherboard ) is inexpensive now, much better than what you currently have and it officially supports win11.

An h310 mobo can be found for about £40 ( or b365 for about £55 ) add another £35 for a couple of ddr4 8gb ram sticks, and an i5-8400 for £30.
