    Windows 10 install drive not the No 1 drive


    I have a samsung 970 evo plus with 2 partitions. First partion is for the OS - Windows 10 21h2. Then I have a standard drive with multiple drives.

    My issue is that Windows never see's the Windows drive as the first drive / main drive, it reads the standard drive as the main drive, to me it is annoying, so how i change / fix this so that the samsung 970 evo plus nvme m.2 ssd is always the number one drive.

    Everything works well so it's probably just a cosmetic issue but it annoys me lol, maybe my ocd

    Any help appreciated please.

    If you are talking about the NVMe Disk # in the Disk Management, (ie) Disk 0, Disk 1 etc it doesn't really matter. In my computer, Disk 0 and Disk 1 are Data drives and my NVMe with Windows on it is Disk #2.
    It only matters if the SSD is Firsts Boot Device in the Bios, it would be listed as Windows Boot Manager. And boot the drive with Windows first.

    Dunno if this would work, but this is what I would try:

    1) Shut down the computer
    2) Unplug every single drive, except the main drive
    3) Start up the computer, so Windows registers the main drive as the first drive
    4) Shut down the computer again
    5) Plug back in all other drives
    6) Start up the computer

    ALSO:
    look in your BIOS, and make sure the first drive listed out of all your drives is the main drive.
