    wrong size ssd after wiping


    hi

    i booted in to winPe to wipe a 1tb ssd using minitool partition, 7 passes. when down, it only 238gb unallocated and i don't see the rest no where. i run disk part same 238gb showing. if try to select the disk that has 238gb it selects the boot usb, i see a 1tb hdd,same thing happen it select the boot usb... the computer is an HP Pavilion 27 All-in-One

    Why in the world were you doing a 7-pass wipe of an SSD?!?

    The 1 tb is showing full capacity as is the second drive it will only show in a lot of things when you create a parition and format it then assign a letter

    I see two internal disks, 1 TB and 250 GB. Followed by a 64 GB USB drive.

    One thing might be throwing you off. MiniTool Partition Wizard starts disk numbering at 1. Diskpart and Windows starts disk numbering at 0. Your 1 TB disk is disk #1 in MiniTool, but it will be disk #0 in Windows and Diskpart.

    I agree.

    Depending on how you wipe the drive it may write random 0 or 1 on every bit so data can't be recovered.
    As SSD dies a little every time you erase and write to it, doing a 7-pass wipe isn't a good option.

    Now you have two clean drives that need to be formatted.

    the 250gb drive was 1tb before I wiped it.

    Right click on the disk in MiniTool Partition Wizard and click properties. What is the model # shown?
