Can't fix NO keyboard/mouse BECAUSE NO keyboard/mouse

I know with complete certainty that my wired USB keyboard and my wireless Logitech mouse work perfectly, and I also know that all the ports work perfectly as well. I know this because when I boot from the current boot partition, everything works perfectly, but when I boot from my main boot partition, neither the mouse or keyboard function at all.

I've seen scores of threads asking how to fix this problem, but almost invariably their solutions require a working keyboard and/or mouse! (There's a hole in that bucket). Those that don't require at least one of them, don't work for me because neither of them functions.

What now? Advice please?

Your main Windows image maybe be missing USB3 driver support. If your PC has legacy (non-USB3) ports, plug your keyboard and mouse temporarily there. After booting up, install the latest PC drivers so the USB3 ports can work again.

For issues like that that may involve a missing USB 3 driver I use the old tried and true PS/2 keyboard or mouse. Usaully just a mouse since all that is required is point and click functionality to install the driver.

Second hand stores are good for having old PS/2 mice and keyboards. Or even eBay.

Thanks for your reply. All the Windows boot partitions are for the same home-built desktop computer. The "main" boot partition is the primary one that I want to use if I could get it to boot properly with both my mouse and any of my keyboards working correctly. It is the version of 64-bit Win 10 Pro (21H2) I installed on my main boot drive, a Crucial 1TB SSD. It had been working fine in the past, but then this current issue arose. Since I couldn't get it working, I switched to my laptop with the same OS and version for all my work for a couple of months. But now I want to go back.

The "current" boot partition is the one that I'm currently running, and with it the keyboard and mouse work perfectly. This "current" OS is on the SSD drive I had been using on my laptop, but I moved the drive to the desktop and it is running if fine here. I would consider continuing to use it, but (1) it keeps telling me I need to activate windows (because the hardware environment is totally different), even though it shows it already is activated; and (2) the desired, "main", OS has a lot of licensed software installed that I can't install on this "current/former laptop" system because they're not licensed for this virtual "laptop".

I have two PS/2 mice and keyboards, but they don't work either. Thanks for the idea, though.

Does the keyboard and /or mouse function in the bios?
