Printer, Device Manager & Devices and Printers

I have an Epson XP-7100 printer connected to my Windows 10 desktop computer via USB. All is working fine, no problems to report. But I do have 2 questions I hope someone can answer for me.

    1. In Device Manager, why is the printer listed 3 times?

    2. In Devices & Printers, how do I rename the printer?

Maybe the printer and the scanner are seperate logical devices so needing seperate drivers. As for renaming what appears when you look through properties?

Uninstall then reinstall the Epson, following the maker's instructions completely.
    Then run---dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ---and ---sfc /scannow ---until a clean report is given.

I checked & it does seem that the Scanner & Printer do use seperate drivers, so I guess that's the reason 2 listings are under 'Imaging Devices'. As for the renaming situation; when I open Printer Properties, I see this:
Printer, Device Manager & Devices and Printers-epson.jpg

But the name in the 'Properties' & the name listed in 'Devices and Printers' is different. Even clicking 'Change Properties' doesn't change the printer's name in 'Devices and Printers' (which is what I really want to do). Also, I cannot find any instance of XP-7100 in the registry, only Epson XP-7100

Sorry, I don't know what you mean by this.

I don't know what the confusion is about. That just means you have a combination printer & scanner. I see the same thing for my HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 All-in-One Printer.

    Nothing is wrong.

    1. The top two (Imaging devices) are for the Scanner and probably the SD Card Reader, and the lower one for the Printer.

    2. Name differences don't matter. Just leave them be, that includes meddling in the Registry.

Series is after the name as the range of printers use the same printer control language. There maybe other ID numbers after as well.

    I renamed mine by:-
1 Right-clicking on the printer icon shown in your diagram
Printer, Device Manager & Devices and Printers-1.png
2 Selecting Printer properties [that's Printer properties not the Properties item lower down in the list].
Printer, Device Manager & Devices and Printers-2.png
3 Selecting the existing name in that topmost input box and overtyping it with the simpler name that I wanted.

The change took hold and that's the name that is now shown in printer dialogs.

    All the best,
