Logitech keyboard inconsistent connectivity

I first mentioned a problem I had with my keyboard back in 2017 after I built my computer. I gave details in the following post:

What was different this time was that both my Logitech keyboard and mouse connection became more and more intermittent. Moving the Logitech USB dongle from the computer back panel to the computer front panel was only a temporary fix. When neither the keyboard or mouse would no longer work I decided it was time to finally find the cause of the problem. I unplugged the common Logitech USB dongle and replaced it with one from another dongle from a Logitech M325 mouse. Both the keyboard and mouse worked again. I then tried the problem Logitech USB dongle on another computer with a Logitech M325 mouse. The Logitech Bolt program couldn't even detect the dongle. I was finally able to verify that the original Logitech USB dongle was faulty. I bought a replacement Logitech USB dongle from Amazon.

Going back to the computer to test the new dongle I found out it was intermittent also. I remembered the problem I had back in 2017 and moved the dongle from the front panel USB 3.0 port to the back panel USB 2.0 port like they had been the last few years. Both the keyboard and mouse appear to work OK now.

Note that a wired keyboard and mouse were temporarily connected to the computer until the wireless keyboard/mouse were paired with the new dongle.

My main point with all this is I am still having intermittent problems with the keyboard/mouse combo when using one of the computer's USB 3.0 ports. A USB 2.0 ports works better. I am still not sure whether the problem is with the keyboard, motherboard, or some kind interference.

BTW, the computer also has a Tp-Link UB400 Bluetooth 4..0 USB dongle. Hopefully it is not interfering with the keyboard/mouse USB dongle.

I already had a Logitech USB dongle that had failed. I also needed to bay a replacement.
I was also having some intermittent mouse lags.
What I did was to adapt a USB extension cable to an old (25 years) and good mechanical Keyboard right side so the dongle is about 4" away from the mouse. The cable is connected to a USB 2.0 at the MB rear connector.

Now I have another problem. My Xbox One wireless controller is intermittent with Bluetooth. It was unusable with the Bluetooth dongle in a USB 3.0 port high on the back of the computer. I moved the dongle to a USB 2.0 port a few inches off the floor on the back of the computer. The Xbox One wireless controller works but only if I hold the controller in my lap. If I hold it above the desk it cut out.

Today I am going to try another identical Bluetooth dongle and another identical Xbox One wireless controller to see if that makes a difference. This desktop computer is the only one I am having wireless problems with. I wonder if the problem is really with the USB ports on the motherboard.

BTW, the motherboard is an ASUS Prime X370-Pro I pre-ordered when Ryzen was released in February 2017. At the time some people thought that both the Ryzen CPUs and the motherboards for it were rushed to market before the bugs were worked out. I wonder whether my motherboard has some problems because of that.

I've had issues with Logitech Unifying Dongles when the rear USB ports are resessed in the case. One of my Logitech devices came with a extender, it's about 2 or 3 inches long. Plugging that in fixed the issue. No USB 3 ports on this oldish PC.

The rear USB ports are recessed so that may be a problem. They are all USB 3.0. I added a 4-port USB 2.0 bracket that is connect to a header on the motherboard. It is mounted on the very bottom of the cases rear. Both the unifying receiver for the keyboard/mouse and the Bluetooth dongles are plugged into USB 2.0 ports. The new dongle for the keyboard/mouse work fine.

I should note that I placed the two dongles back there several years ago. They both worked fine until a few months ago. When that happened I used an old USB 2.0 hub that plugged into a rear-top USB 3.0 port. I placed the hub on the top of the case an inch from the cases front. That worked fine until the unifying dongle failed. I may use that again with just the Bluetooth dongle.

BTW, the computer does have two front USB 3.0 ports that I could use but I would rather not tie them up with any dongles.
