What OS was on the fire tablet? Was it a Linux or Mac OS?

Which is essentially Linux at its core.

    Thanks.
This time it happened to my sons tablet where it has lost the file system and wants formatting and a couple of weeks ago it did the same thing with my own tablet.
I was OK to format mine but my son has apps and data on there that I don't want to lose.

I was hoping I could use Partition Wizard to convert the file system back to FAT 32 but didn't get the option

It can be that the SD card is formatted as ext4 (Linux format) that isn't recognized by windows.
I suggest you boot your computer with a Linux USB drive to see what is in the SD card.

The fire tablet uses Fat32 as far as I'm aware. Plus wouldn't partition wizard see it as ext4 rather then OTHER?

I have Linux on a drive. MiniTool partition wizard sees the Linux partition as (other).
Almost every boot able GPT drive has Fat32 partition for the boot manager and another partition for the OS (NTFS for Win and ext4 for Linux)
